Teach For All CEO and Co-Founder, Wendy Kopp, visited Aotearoa New Zealand last week for the first time. Teach For All is a global network of over 35 independent, locally-led partner organisations with a shared vision for increasing educational opportunity in their countries.
In light of the upcoming Teach For All Global Conference in October, to be held in Auckland, getting a feel for the Kiwi context was key. As a result, Kopp’s itinerary was bursting at the seams with visits to three different schools in Auckland (Newton Central School, Massey High School and James Cook High School), and many meetings with the Teach First NZ board, partners, funders, staff, and participants.
One of the highlights on the schedule was an evening reception hosted by Cognition Education, where Kopp shared her vision for Teach For All and its efforts to raise educational outcomes internationally. Stories of alumni impact in various parts of the US were also shared, helping attendees envisage the potential impact of the younger Teach First NZ programme.
