Applications to join the 2021 Cohort of the Teach First NZ programme are officially closed.
Getting ready to apply for the 2022 Cohort? Get familiar with the process below.
Our four-stage process is repeated for different applicants throughout the year. Check our social channels for information about application deadlines.
The online application is your first chance to share your story: your experiences, achievements, and motivations for working towards social change in Aotearoa. It should take between 1-2 hours to complete.
Successful applicants will be invited to a phone interview, which is an opportunity to discuss your alignment in further depth in a 20-30 minute phone conversation with one of our whānau.
Success in a phone interview will lead you to a one-day Ako Centre - either online or in person - incorporating a pepeha process, an interview, a group exercise, a sample teaching lesson and self-reflection exercises.
If you are successful at an Ako Centre, congratulations! You will be made an offer to start your leadership journey with Ako Mātātupu.
The seven-week intensive training will commence in mid-November; participants will begin teaching in their partner schools the following January.
If you have any concerns or queries about this process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us at [email protected]
Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawa nui.
