Teach First NZ is running (and walking!) Round the Bays 2016 – and we need your help!
Are you planning on running Round the Bays but don’t have a team? Are you wanting to support Teach First NZ in some way? Or are you simply wanting to have some fun?! Join us for Round the Bays 2016!
This year, we are aiming to raise $2,000 for our annual Summer School, which sees around over 150 secondary school students (from low decile schools) enter the University of Auckland (Epsom Campus) for 5 days at the start of January. These students are from our partner schools and organisations, and we invite them to attend a simulated school during their summer holiday to give them an amazing experience - a space to keep their learning alive over the summer (alongside their friends), and the chance to brush up on the subjects they feel they need more help with.
At the same time, our participants are given a unique opportunity to develop their classroom skills, and put their freshly learnt theory into practice, before they start teaching in schools.
What will the funds we raise go towards?
As a charity, Teach First NZ has to raise the funds to cover the cost of the summer school by the generous donations of our supporters. If you are able to help, your contribution will help us to work with more young people and give them the best possible experience. Your contribution will help us to pay for:
• Transport – so the students can get to the summer school each day
• Food - We provide lunch and morning tea for each student that attends
• Resources – including stationery, learning tools, and other equipment
• Observing teachers - who contribute to the development of both our participants and the students they teach
Will you partner with us to keep this Summer School running?
