The Board of Teach First NZ: Ako Mātātupu is pleased to announce the appointment of Jay Allnutt as CEO.

Jay is a former secondary school teacher, and has worked in middle leadership roles in two schools serving lower-income communities. He joined Teach First NZ as Director of Strategy and Operations in 2014 after a number of years working with our sister organisation, Teach First, in London. Jay has founded two charities focused on reducing inequality in education, and has an MSc in the Economics of Education from the Institute of Education at University College London.

We were pleased by the widespread interest the role attracted, which we think is a measure of the success and impact that Teach First NZ has achieved to date. Jay was selected from close to 50 applicants after a rigorous recruitment process, and we are excited to have someone with his experience leading the organisation into the next phase of our work, as we seek to increase our impact across New Zealand.

Jay will transition into the role of CEO from his current role at the end of November, and our outgoing CEO and Co-Founder, Shaun Sutton, will be continuing his involvement and joining our Board as a Trustee.

Please join us in welcoming Jay into his new role, and we look forward to working with you further over the coming months and years.
