Teach First NZ participants enter schools

News items - 4 February 2013

All 16 participants in Teach First NZ’s inaugural cohort have now begun teaching in their schools.

All Teach First NZ partner schools in 2013 are secondary schools serving lower decile communities in Auckland and Northland. Our 2013 participants come from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, and between them teach the subjects of Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Te Reo Māori.

Teach First NZ looks forward to supporting the cohort to develop skills as both leaders and teachers over the coming two years.

“I have so many goals for the next two years - challenging negative mind-sets, encouraging my students to be independent learners, and helping my students to lift their sights of what they can achieve”.
