Teach First NZ Programme Participant Rewa Worley is in his second year of teaching Te Reo Māori at St Pauls College. Outside of his teaching life, he's also a spoken word poet, who's had the opportunity to perform both in Aotearoa and on the international stage. He's been working with tamariki and rangatahi in this capacity this week at Auckland Writers Festival.
"Poetry is taking the intangible and the tangible, and fusing them into the alchemy of poetry" - Rewa Worley. Yesterday, Rewa spoke to 1,800 tamariki about the power of spoken word poetry, and today he ran a workshop where he gave rangatahi the chance to write and perform their own pieces.
