Josh Irving, 2013 Cohort (English)

Voices - 4 February 2013

For Josh, originally from Wellington, Teach First NZ has provided an opportunity to learn himself, and to share what he learns with others, in an environment where he can make a positive difference to young people and their families.

Josh was born in Manurewa, Auckland but moved to Miramar, Wellington at a young age. He calls Wellington home, having lived there for nearly twenty years, and having completed all his schooling in Wellington’s eastern suburbs. In 2008, Josh was Head Boy and Dux at Rongotai College, and then studied at Victoria University, finishing in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English Literature and History.

Josh has always loved learning and sharing what he learns with others. The Teach First NZ programme has provided him with an excellent opportunity to do both of these things, and in an environment where he feels he can make a positive difference to young people and their families. Josh considers being a part of the Otara community a real privilege.
